Focus on health, education, and equitable development
The Balochistan government has announced a landmark budget of Rs1,028 billion for the upcoming fiscal year—its first-ever trillion-rupee budget—featuring a surplus of Rs42 billion.
Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shuaib Noshirovani presented the budget during a session of the Balochistan Assembly, presided over by Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai. In his speech, Noshirovani emphasized that the government had fully utilized the current year’s development budget, resulting in notable progress across key sectors.
He highlighted the government’s commitment to sustained development and described the budget surplus as a significant fiscal achievement for the province.
Earlier this month, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced that the new budget would prioritize healthcare and education, ruling out politically driven development schemes. He stressed that the budget would be designed to meet the actual needs of the people and support long-term development goals.
Bugti also confirmed that input from the parliamentary committee had been incorporated to ensure the budget’s inclusivity and effectiveness. He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to transparency and equitable distribution of development resources.
“Every citizen and every region of Balochistan will be treated equally,” Bugti stated, vowing that political influence would not dictate funding allocations.
Meanwhile, government spokesperson Shahid Rind reiterated that the budget aims to promote economic growth and social advancement, particularly in underdeveloped areas of the province.
