WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 20, 2025:
Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, held in-depth discussions with prominent US think tanks, policy experts, and international media representatives during his five-day official visit to the United States. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the engagements focused on strengthening strategic and military cooperation between the two nations.
In his meetings with scholars and analysts at leading US institutions in Washington, Munir presented Pakistan’s principled stance on key regional and global issues, reinforcing the country’s strategic outlook and commitment to peace.
At the heart of his message was Pakistan’s unwavering dedication to a rules-based international order and the pursuit of diplomacy and cooperative security to address global conflicts. Citing military operations such as Maarka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, the COAS also detailed Pakistan’s sustained counter-terrorism efforts and highlighted the destabilizing influence of certain actors using terrorism as a tool of hybrid warfare.
During a luncheon hosted at the White House, US President Donald Trump praised his meeting with Field Marshal Munir, calling it an “honour.” The two-hour session covered a broad range of topics including trade, artificial intelligence, energy, cryptocurrency, and emerging technologies. Regional security, the Pakistan-India ceasefire, and rising tensions in the Middle East were also discussed.
Field Marshal Munir underscored Pakistan’s central role in the global fight against terrorism, noting the substantial human and economic costs the country has borne in pursuit of international peace and security. He also pointed to Pakistan’s untapped economic potential in key sectors like information technology, agriculture, and mining, inviting international investors to explore opportunities for mutually beneficial partnerships.
The COAS reaffirmed Pakistan’s balanced and lawful approach to international affairs, stressing the importance of diplomacy and dialogue. His interactions were widely praised by participants for their transparency and strategic depth, with observers calling them a significant step toward enhancing the Pakistan–US strategic partnership.
The visit marks a pivotal moment in reaffirming long-standing ties between Islamabad and Washington, particularly in areas of counter-terrorism, regional stability, and economic development.
