Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s tourism sector witnessed a major success over the Eidul Azha holidays, with more than 932,000 tourists visiting the province’s scenic destinations in just three days — a clear indicator of growing public interest and confidence in the region’s tourism infrastructure.
The Swat Valley stood out as the most visited destination, attracting over 288,000 local tourists and a small but notable number of international visitors. Popular areas such as Madyan and Bahrain were packed with vacationers, reflecting Swat’s enduring appeal as a cultural and natural haven.
Other key regions also reported impressive footfall:
- Galiyat: 177,000 visitors
- Naran-Kaghan: 168,000 visitors
- Malam Jabba: 160,000 visitors
- Dir Upper: 85,000 visitors
This surge was not only a boost for local economies but also a strong testament to the effectiveness of planning and coordination led by the KP government, particularly under Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur and Tourism Advisor Zahid Chanzeb.
The arrangements were widely praised by tourists. From smooth parking facilities and heightened security to medical support and responsive guidance services, the on-ground execution was commendable. The young officers of the Tourism Police earned special appreciation for their professionalism, while the 24/7 helpline 1422 served as a reliable support channel.
What stood out this year was the growing popularity of newly merged districts like Khyber and Bajaur, signaling a shift in the tourism map of the province and hinting at a more inclusive tourism future.
The Culture and Tourism Authority played a central role in managing logistics and maintaining service quality. In his post-holiday remarks, Advisor Zahid Chanzeb highlighted tourist satisfaction as a point of pride, reiterating the government’s vision to make KP a safe, modern, and internationally competitive tourist destination.
Verdict:
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Eidul Azha tourism campaign can be considered a major achievement. With record-breaking numbers, efficient service delivery, and rising interest in new regions, the province continues to make strong progress toward becoming a premier tourism hub in Pakistan and beyond.
