Government Clears BCB for Pakistan Tour

Bangladesh to Play Five-Match T20I Series

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has received preliminary government approval for its upcoming white-ball tour of Pakistan, according to international media reports on Thursday.

The tour will feature a five-match T20 International series. While the BCB is yet to receive an official confirmation letter, it has been informed that the approval has been granted in principle and the official documentation is expected soon.

“We’ve been given the green signal from the government, although we haven’t received the formal letter yet. However, we anticipate it shortly. From what I understand, the government has decided in principle to allow us to proceed with the Pakistan tour,” a BCB official told an international sports outlet.

The official added that once the letter arrives, the board will begin discussions with the players, acknowledging that some may have security concerns. “We’ll talk to the players after receiving the official confirmation. Some are reportedly hesitant due to security issues. We want to make it clear that participation will not be forced,” the official emphasized.

Previously, the BCB stated it would seek government clearance before engaging in any discussions with players regarding the tour.

Currently, the Bangladesh national team is in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a short tour, during which they are scheduled to play two T20Is on May 17 and 19.

Following the UAE tour, Bangladesh is set to visit Pakistan for the T20I series, initially scheduled to begin on May 25 in Faisalabad. However, with the suspension of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, both cricket boards have had to reconsider the schedule.

On May 13, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) proposed a revised itinerary. As per the new plan, Faisalabad will host the first three T20Is on May 27, 29, and June 1. The final two matches will be played in Lahore on June 3 and 5.
