ISLAMABAD, May 9 — The government has announced a Rs1.83 per unit reduction in electricity tariffs, following formal approval by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), Express News reported Friday.
According to NEPRA’s notification, the tariff cut includes a Rs0.28 per unit decrease under the monthly fuel cost adjustment, which will apply for the current billing cycle, providing immediate relief to consumers.
In addition, a Rs1.55 per unit reduction under the quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism will take effect over the three-month period from May to July 2025, as specified in the notification.
The adjustments are part of ongoing efforts to ease the financial burden on electricity consumers amid rising energy costs.
