Iran-Israel Conflict a Threat to Global Peace: PM Shehbaz

Forms Committee to Advance Cashless Economy and Digital Transformation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday described the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel as a serious threat to both regional and global peace.

Speaking at a federal cabinet meeting broadcast on national television, the prime minister called the situation in the Middle East “highly alarming” and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Iranian people in the face of Israeli aggression.

He condemned the Israeli strikes that have resulted in hundreds of casualties in Iran and urged the international community to take immediate steps toward securing a ceasefire. “The global community must act to halt hostilities and work toward lasting peace,” he stressed.


Push for Digital Transformation

Also on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formed a high-level committee to accelerate the country’s transition toward a cashless economy and enhance digitization efforts.

Chaired by the prime minister himself, the committee will monitor the progress of relevant initiatives and review updates on a weekly basis.

During the meeting, officials briefed the cabinet on steps taken to facilitate digital payments and money transfers among traders. Updates were also provided on ongoing initiatives under the ministries of Finance and Information Technology aimed at expanding digital infrastructure and adoption.


Focus on Education Equity

The prime minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to providing equal educational and development opportunities for underprivileged children.

He directed that the quality of education in Daanish Schools and university projects be brought in line with international standards to ensure access to world-class learning for economically disadvantaged students.
