President, Prime Minister, and Armed Forces Congratulate Nation on 27th Youm-e-Takbeer
ISLAMABAD:
The country’s civil and military leadership has extended heartfelt congratulations to the nation on the 27th Youm-e-Takbeer, honoring Pakistan’s nuclear journey and urging renewed unity and determination to advance the country into an economic powerhouse.
In separate statements, President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), and the heads of the armed services emphasized that Youm-e-Takbeer pays tribute to the vision of Pakistan’s leadership and the exceptional talent of its scientists and engineers.
Youm-e-Takbeer, observed on May 28, marks the historic day in 1998 when Pakistan became a nuclear power, restoring strategic balance in South Asia and asserting its sovereign right to self-defense.
In his message, President Zardari highlighted that acquiring nuclear capability was a deliberate decision to ensure peace through strength, uphold regional strategic balance, and safeguard the nation from external threats.
“Today, we mark the 27th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer — the day we demonstrated our nuclear prowess and established strategic deterrence,” he said. “Pakistan seeks no conflict and remains committed to peaceful coexistence and respect for international law.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his own message, called for strengthened national unity and resolve. He connected this year’s observance with Pakistan’s recent success in repelling “an unjustified war imposed by India” during the May 6-10 confrontation.
“The joy of Youm-e-Takbeer is even greater for a nation buoyed by victory,” he remarked. Shehbaz also paid tribute to the pioneers of Pakistan’s nuclear program, saluting the sacrifices made by the nation to achieve this milestone and celebrating their determination and faith.
A press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the Armed Forces, along with the CJCSC and service chiefs, also extended warm congratulations to the people of Pakistan on the 27th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer.
“Pakistan’s strategic capability is a national trust that embodies the collective aspirations of its people,” the ISPR said. “The observance of Youm-e-Takbeer honors the visionary leadership, the brilliance of our scientists and engineers, and the countless contributions of all who have made Pakistan’s defense unassailable.”
