KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the National Women’s T20 Tournament 2025 will begin on May 7 in Karachi, with matches scheduled at two venues — the National Stadium and the HPC Oval Ground.
The tournament will feature five teams: Challengers, Conquerors, Invincibles, Stars, and Strikers. A total of 22 matches will be played in a double-league format, where each team will face the others twice. The competition will run for 18 days, culminating in a final at the National Stadium on May 24.
The top three teams from the league stage will move to the playoffs. The second and third-ranked teams will compete in a qualifier on May 22, with the winner advancing to meet the top-ranked team in the final.
Prize Pool and Participation
A total of 80 players will participate in the tournament, which carries a prize pool of over Rs3 million. The champions will take home Rs1.5 million, while the runner-up will receive Rs1 million, according to the PCB.
The five team squads will be reduced from 19 to 16 players following a four-day pre-tournament camp, set to begin on May 3 in Karachi.
National Stars to Lead Teams
Five prominent players from Pakistan’s unbeaten campaign in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Qualifiers will captain their respective sides:
- Fatima Sana (captain of the Qualifiers’ team of the tournament) will lead Conquerors
- Gull Feroza will head Strikers
- Muneeba Ali will lead Invincibles
- Rameen Shamim will captain Challengers
- Sidra Amin will take charge of Stars
Pakistan’s women’s team recently topped the World Cup Qualifiers table, finishing undefeated and securing a spot in the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, following key victories over Thailand and Bangladesh in Lahore.
Live Streaming and Match Timings
To promote and expand the reach of women’s cricket, the PCB announced that both the qualifier and the final will be live-streamed on its official YouTube channel. All tournament matches will begin at 3 PM PKT.
Last year’s edition, held in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, ended with Karachi and Lahore declared joint winners after the final was abandoned due to rain.
