Rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected on Friday in Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, and northeastern/southern Balochistan, with the possibility of heavy rain in some locations.
The PMD has also warned of potential flooding and other hazards due to heavy rains expected between June 26 and 28. Torrential to very heavy rainfall may trigger flash floods in seasonal streams and drains in Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan, northeastern Punjab, and Kashmir.
On June 27-28, flash flooding is particularly likely in the local streams and drains of Musa Khel, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Qalat, Dadu, and Qambar Shahdadkot.
Urban flooding is also a risk in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera, Charsadda, and Peshawar, as well as Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad, and Karachi on June 27-28.
The department has further cautioned that strong winds and thunderstorms could damage fragile infrastructure, such as electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels. There is also an increased risk of landslides in the mountainous areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, and Kashmir, which could disrupt road traffic.
