Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam has acknowledged that his team has struggled to execute their game plans, leading to a series of defeats in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 10).
In a post-match interview following a heavy 102-run loss to Islamabad United, Babar stated that both the batting and bowling departments have not been able to capitalize on the vital first six overs of the game. He remained optimistic, adding, “We still have many matches ahead, InshaAllah, we’ll aim to make a comeback in the tournament.”
When asked about mentoring young players like Ali Raza and Sufiyan Muqeem, Babar shared that the team’s coaching staff is actively helping the young players adapt to the current playing conditions. He also expressed his gratitude for having cricketing legends like Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mushtaq Ahmed in the squad, noting that their experience and guidance would certainly be valuable for the team’s development.
It’s worth mentioning that Peshawar Zalmi has lost their first two matches of PSL 10.
On Monday, Islamabad United claimed their second consecutive win, defeating Peshawar Zalmi by 102 runs in the fifth match of PSL 10 at Pindi Cricket Stadium.
Chasing a daunting target of 244, Peshawar Zalmi was bowled out for just 141 in 18.2 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris was the standout performer, scoring 87 runs off 47 balls, including 12 fours and four sixes. However, aside from Haris, no other batsman could make an impact, as seven of Zalmi’s batters were dismissed for single-digit scores.
Babar Azam, who has struggled in recent matches, was dismissed for just one run, marking his second consecutive low score.
