U.S. President Donald Trump has called on India and Pakistan to immediately end their hostilities, offering assistance to help resolve the worst outbreak of violence between the two nuclear-armed nations in 20 years, AFP reports.
“It’s so terrible,” Trump said at the White House. “I get along with both countries, I know them very well, and I want to see them resolve this. I want to see them stop.”
He noted that the two nations had been engaged in a tit-for-tat exchange and expressed hope they would now bring it to an end.
“We have good relationships with both India and Pakistan, and I want to see the fighting stop,” Trump emphasized from the Oval Office.
He added, “If there’s anything I can do to help, I’m ready to step in.”
