In a move aimed at countering Indian accusations, the Federal Ministry of Information has invited foreign media representatives to visit several sites along the Line of Control (LoC) – the de facto border dividing the contested Jammu and Kashmir region between India and Pakistan. The visits are set to take place today and tomorrow (Sunday and Monday), with the goal of dispelling India’s claims that Pakistan is harboring militant training camps in the area.
According to ministry sources, the invitation comes in response to India’s long-standing narrative accusing Pakistan of supporting terrorism along the LoC. The visits will allow media personnel to see firsthand the situation on the ground, offering an opportunity to debunk the claims made by India. Pakistan remains committed to global peace and firmly rejects any involvement in terrorism, as emphasized by a ministry spokesperson. “Pakistan is determined to protect its sovereignty and fully rejects any form of terrorism,” the spokesperson stated.
In addition to the media visits, today, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar and Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif will brief key leaders from various political parties about the national security situation. This briefing will cover the possible risks of an armed conflict between Pakistan and India, the preparedness of the Pakistan Army, and the government’s diplomatic efforts to ease rising tensions.
The move follows a series of escalating events after India accused Pakistan of involvement in a militant attack that took place on April 22 in the Pahalgam area of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). In response to the attack, India ramped up its rhetoric, with some Pakistani officials speculating that India might take military action against Pakistan in the near future.
This diplomatic outreach and transparency campaign comes as Pakistan seeks to counter the growing tensions in the region and assert its position on the global stage. By opening the LoC for international media, Pakistan aims to offer a transparent view of the situation and ensure that the international community has accurate information amid rising concerns about potential conflict.
